Stockton riverside festival.

WELCOME TO OUR 21ST FESTIVAL Stockton International Riverside Festival is Europe’s largest free open air festival. Now in its 21st year, the festival features a spectacular 5-day programme of outdoor theatre, street entertainment, circus, music and dance, by some of the world’s best artists.

The last time I visited this festival must be some 15 years ago, and I was not impressed.
I must admit now after visiting the festival this year, my opinion has changed.
It has now developed into a most wonderful spectacle, with much colour and many interesting acts.
Some acts were out of this world, and some were out of this universe.
I was particularly interested in seeing the African dancers, but I was disappointed to learn that they had forgotten to apply for "visas" and so had to be cancelled.  Mmmmmm….No doubt their agent shall be in some very hot water !!!

Below are a few photo’s I snapped as I wondered round Stockton, you can view others in the album at the bottom of this page.
Needless to say I shall be there next year for the full 5 days, I visited only Friday night to see the amazing "Terrafolk".
After seeing them I decided to visit again the next day for the closing ceremony.
And very pleased I did.
A most enjoyable 7 hours.

PS. At this moment I am in some pain, resulting from a trapped nerve in my back. This happened as I was taking some of these
photos. From very awkward angles. "OUCH"

    Hi Kenny,
Thanks for the visit and your message. Yes best to do the star gazing in a prone position. Hope your pinched nerve mends before your departure to Stockholm which is not too far away if I recall correctly.

  16. Hi kenny,
Thanks for your message,  I think  ‘boro have a good future, as you say, the old heads have gone, and you have a very  good manager there, personally I was gutted when John Gregory chased him out of villa, I realy rated him, and always thought he would make a good manager.

I dont think you have anything to worry about this season, that Alves looks a good prospect, and should score some goals ( if you can keep him! )
I was quite impressed with luke young on sunday, he fitted in very nicely, almost as though he had been there for ages, thanks!

The festival looks very interesting, but it  doesn’t get any publicity down here, in fact this is literally the first I have heard of it…can’t wait to see your pictures next year!

Hope your trapped nerve has worked its way clear, and you are now pain free : o )
Take care me old mate,…. bring on the magpies!
    All the best Kenny ,
    woof woof!

  18. Kenny, I had seen someone else’s post about an injury you sustained but I wasn’t aware that you were still suffering.  I’m very sorry to hear that and I can only imagine the depressing effects of not being able to be your usual self.  Even with short illnesses I get a little batty because I want life to be back to normal.  You are in my prayers for recovery.  Peace

  26. Hello dear friend!  I very much enjoyed your pictures and admire your talent in taking them.  Once I’m finished my formal schooling I would like to take a course in photography as I am not at all good at taking pictures!
As for your wedding comment, which made me chuckle, remember why MrNotForMe broke up with me – I’m not a risk taker.  That is true in some instances and as with this new guy I’m taking my time – I really don’t want to rush into another relationship too quickly.  Time will tell.  Peace

  34. Wow, Kenny, these are some great shots!!  A shame about those African Dancers–that would have been what I would have loved as well.  Hard to believe those Visas were overlooked–sort of like forgetting one’s clothes.  African music keeps me going while I am up there in Idaho–so rejeuvinating!

Hope that back backs off–that is nasty pain!  Go easy, Kenny….

  35. Hi Kenny – most impressed with these photos thank you.
Sorry about the back and hope it soon mends.
I am suffering too with Achilles tendonitis – no aerobics for me tonight!  Maybe I am in sympathy with Gillydog and her injured cruciate ligament.
    Take care
