Blame game at US oil spill hearing
A boat moves through oily water at the site of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico
BP has told the US Congress its massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico was caused by the failure of a crucial safety device made by another company.
In turn, that company said that BP was in charge, and that a third company which poured concrete to plug the exploratory well did not do it right. The third company, which was plugging the well in anticipation of future production, says it was only following BP’s plan.
The blame game shot into the open as the Senate began a hearing into the oil spill that has been contaminating water in the Gulf of Mexico for three weeks and threatens sensitive marshes and marine life from Louisiana to Florida.
Executives of the three companies are testifying before the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.
"It sickens me to my very core"
When the oh so delicate balance of our Sea’s and Oceans purity, is left in the hands of
obviously incapable "oil men" hell bent on nothing but profit.
The fact that these companies are allowed to police themselves when so much is at stake,
Now a little ditty I wrote some time ago but have fiddled with some of the words to suit.
~~~~~~~~~The salvation of oily Dick~~~~~~~~~
We catch cod we catch haddock we catch crab and lobster too,
we sail the sea’s for things to catch in our boat sleek and blue "O"
7 miles out no sight of land where dolphins chatter hello
sometimes the basking shark will call he’s such a long fellow "O".
A wandering bird rests a while upon our golden mast
then leaves his calling card for us before flying home so fast "O"
Ahead we see a pure white sail but not a boat a bobbing
ti’s Dick himself the great white whale that sets our hearts a throbbing "O"
Full steam ahead toward the beast we’ll catch him this time Terry
we’ll hunt him till we save him or our bones none shall bury "O"
We chased him night we chased him day and found him in a slick
with crude oil bubbling from the blow hole of Moby Dick "O"
Yes we saved the great white whale now men doff their toppers
we’ll go down in mystery terry because we don’t tell whoppers "O"
Now you know why I never became a poet. 🙂
This is the price Nature pays for mans GREED.
I find it a crying shame.
